The Borzoi (Russian Русская псовая борзая transcribed Russkaya psowaja borsaja ) is one of the FCI ( No. 193, Gr. 10, sec 1) recognized Russian breed of dog.
Origin and History
The name comes from the Russian Borsy ( борзый to German "fast" ). Until about 1850, there was no uniform type; for today's Borzoi breeders selected from about 10 different beats. In the 14th and 15th century, the Borzoi in Russia of large landowners was used to hunt. Miscellaneous big game, foxes, wolves and hares were hunted. Behavior
