Bos en Lommer

Bos en Lommerange is a neighborhood of the Dutch capital Amsterdam, North Holland province, located in the city of Amsterdam West. The area was an independent district in 1990 and is one of the forty so-called problem areas (2009) in the Netherlands, where make social and economic problems particularly noticeable. The surface area is 2.71 km ² and in 2003 there were about 31,000 people in this district.

History

Mentioned in 1639, was one of the today's district, along with the villages Sloterdijk, Osdorp and Vrije Geer, to the town of Sloten in a polder area, which was drained in 1639. With a new Housing Act of 1901 and the increase in population, there was a modernization and assembly of various interest groups: business associations, transport, public housing and recreational areas. A commission headed by A. Bos In 1924 a scheme plan voor Groot- Amsterdam, which was however rejected .. Four years later it came to setting up a new department, Algemeen Uitbreidungsplan Amsterdam ( AUB). 1934, the plan Bosch en Lommerange was erected to urban expansion for 35,000 residents. This plan was approved on December 4, 1935 by the local council. It took three years for the realization of the plan.

Development

The district Bos en Lommerange today is divided into the following six quarters:

Erasmusparkbuurt (Updated: February 17, 2009) Between 1920 and 1940, here most of the apartments were built. Here are the Erasmus Park and the Erasmus canal. The park can be used for walking, football games and picnic.

Kolenkitbuurt (as of 21 May 2007) This neighborhood was named after the Opstandingskerk from the 1950s. Residential construction and restoration are in the foreground.

Gibraltarbuurt ' (as of 14 February 2008) A multicultural residential district, with Oud Sloterdijk, Peter and the boom of the church this neighborhood has a more historical background.

Landlustbuurt (Updated: February 17, 2009) With two community centers ( " Buurthuis ") at the Karel Doorman - Square and a children's playground is the Landlustbuurt between the famous streets Willem de Zwijgerlaan, Haarlemmerweg, Jan van Galenstraat and Admiraal de Ruyterweg.

Gulden Winckelbuurt (as of May 21, 2007 ) With a modern library and a market the Golden shopping district is the heart of Bos en Lommerange.

Robert Scottbuurt (Updated: September 25, 2007) characteristic of this neighborhood is the Jan van Galen - sport park, the Hospice de Boeg; and facilities of public educational system and the social and societal welfare.

Each of the six residential areas has its own Buurtmanager ( district manager ). The street names are often named after famous sailors, naval battles and historical books
