Bosiljevo

Bosiljevo ( German outdated Wasseil ) is a Croatian community, which is part of the Karlovac County.

Geography

Bosiljevo lies between the two rivers Kupa and Dobra on a relief-like area which Družac ( 469 m) and Privis ( 461 m) is called. The municipality is bordered in the north by Slovenia and in the south on the town Vrbovsko.

Bosilijevo consists of 43 settlements, which are divided into four administrative districts Bosiljevo, Grabrk, Prikuplje and Vodena Draga. According to the census of 2011 living in the municipality 1,284 inhabitants.

History

Archaeological finds indicate a prehistoric settlement of the township. The first written mention dates from 1334, Ivan Arhiđakon Gorički called the Statute of the Zagreb Archdiocese, the parish of St. Mavro in Bozilo. One attraction is the Frankopanenschloss with parking. This castle is deserted and in disrepair.

In the years 1860-1948 Bosiljevo was an independent municipality.
