Bosjökloster

The Bosjökloster am See Ringsjön in the Swedish municipality Höör in the historical province of Skåne in southern Sweden and was originally a nunnery.

History

It was founded in 1080 by Benedictine monks. The oldest surviving document in which the monastery is mentioned, was founded in 1181 under Pope Lucius III. written and confirmed the former rights of the abbey. A local legend claims that the first donation to the founders had been made by Tord Thott, the first names are known member of the family of Thott. In the 16th century the abbey was converted to a castle, of which only certain parts are preserved.

1629 was the former convent by marriage into the possession of the Beck family, but after Jochum Beck ran into financial difficulties, the plant a well-known Danish aristocrat who was but a little later forced into exile for treason was sold to Corfitz Ulfeldt. The monastery fell into the Swedish state-owned and gradually fell into disrepair.

1735 it fell due to a special law again in the possession of the Beck family, who renovated the castle. In 1908 she sold it to Count Philip Bonde, whose family still owns it today.
