The stitchhaired Bosnian Hound - Barak ( Bosanski Ostrodlaki Gonic - Barak ) is recognized by the FCI breed from Bosnia ( FCI group 6, section 1.2, Standard No. 155). The breed is under the patronage of the FCI, as there is no partner organization of the FCI in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Origin and History

The Barak is a running dog and comes from local shocks and greyhounds from the Mediterranean area. The mixture gave a well- adapted to the climate, robust breed that was bred in Bosnia around since the nineteenth century. The breed was as Illyrian Hound ( Ilirski Gonic ) registered in 1965 by the FCI, the name was in the current standard on Stichelhaariger Bosnian Hound - Barak ( Bosanski Ostrodlaki Gonic - Barak ) changed.

Description

The Barak is a very tough and tenacious dog, he is up to 56 cm tall and 24 kg. The wiry, rough, long coat protects him from the inclemency of the weather. As typical working dog breed was much more emphasis on working ability than on the appearance. The ears are medium high, medium and wide, droopy and a little thick, and thinner towards the end rounded off the top.

Use

He is a hunting dog and a good watchdog but is not biting.
