Boston Breakers

Boston Breakers is a women's football franchise from Somerville, Massachusetts in the Greater Boston area. It was founded in 2012 and plays in the National Women's Soccer League, the highest league in women's soccer in the U.S. since 2013.

History

Already in the 2001-2003 existing WUSA and the existing 2009 to 2011 WPS there was one team named Boston Breakers.

On 24 November 2012, the creation of a new women's football professional league in the U.S. was announced. It was also announced that a team under the name Boston Breakers Boston will participate.

Stadiums

  • Harvard Stadium ( 30,323 seats); Boston, Massachusetts ( since 2014)

The Boston Breakers wore their home games of the 2013 season in Dilboy Stadium in Somerville from, which has a nominal capacity of 2,500 spectators, but has been enlarged by the addition of bleachers when needed. For the 2014 season they moved to the much larger Harvard Stadium, had already played in the WPS franchise of the Boston Breakers.
