Boston Cream Pie

Boston Cream Pie is a cake that is popular in Massachusetts, especially in the United States.

According to tradition, the invention of the French chef at the Parker House hotel dates (opened in 1855 ), who earned a variant of the usual pudding / cake layers, in which the pudding was replaced by a lighter filling of vanilla cream or Bavarian cream. The name Cream Pie dates from this period in which these types of creams have been used until then only cover the fruit in pies. The pie consists of two layers of cake with filling and is provided at the end with a chocolate coating, rare coated with icing and decorated with cocktail cherries.

The pastry is very popular in Massachusetts, there is also a round version, the Boston cream donut that is similar to donuts, but provided with Boston cream filling and coated according to the Boston cream pie with a chocolate coating. Both pastries, Boston Cream Pie and Boston cream donut, are listed by the State of Massachusetts as a national pastry.
