Botanischer Garten der Universität des Saarlandes

The Botanical Garden of the University of the Saarland was founded in 1952 and is located on the western edge of the Saarbrücken campus. The public greenhouse facility was completed in 1967. The current expansion of the free land is 2.5 ha, the greenhouse area of 1,200 m², 800 m² as glasshouses.

The team around the director include a school teacher and a senior gardener and a senior teacher. The garden is home to about 2,000 plant taxa (species, varieties and cultivars ) from different climatic zones of the earth. A medicinal plants museum is affiliated to the body.

The Botanical Garden of the tasks consist in the provision of plant material for university teaching, research and public education work, especially for schools. A garden own conveyance supports public relations.

Other features of the garden include an annual calendar of events as well as individually agreed group tours to various themes.
