Bothaina Kamel

Bothaina camel; Arab بثينة كامل; ( born April 18, 1962 in Cairo ) is an Egyptian television presenter, activist and politician of the Kifaya movement. She served a long time as an advocate for democracy, her professional career was therefore marked by repeated conflict with the authorities. She announced her candidacy for the presidential elections in Egypt in 2012.

Camel moderated from 1992 to 1998 a popular Egyptian radio program called " Nightime Confessions". She later worked as a television presenter for the new Egyptian state television and hosted a show called "Please Understand Me " on the located in Saudi Arabian owned Orbit satellite TV network. In each transfer, she performed the official opposition: "Confessions " was deleted after a cry of outrage by Muslim conservatives. Camel is a self-proclaimed social democrat and political party affiliation officially and independently. As a Muslim it is committed against sectarianism and supports the equal treatment of Coptic and Muslim places of worship.
