Botswana Democratic Party

The Botswana Democratic Party ( BDP) is a party in Botswana.

It was founded in 1962 by Seretse Khama and was called before the country's independence Bechuanaland People's Party (BPP ). At the first general election in 1965, she won 28 of 31 seats. Since independence in 1966, it continuously the government. In the 2004 elections, the BDP won 44 of 57 seats in the National Assembly. Five years later the party reached as a overwhelming majority.
