Bottenbach

Bottenbach is a municipality in the southwest, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Pirmasens country.

Geography

Bottenbach is about two kilometers north of the French border between Pirmasens and Zweibrücken in the southern part of the Palatinate Forest. It is the westernmost municipality in the municipality Pirmasens country. Is named the place after the eponymous river, which is also seen on the coat of arms.

History

By the end of the 18th century the village belonged to the Duchy of Palatinate gorgeous country -Zweibrücken.

After 1792 French revolutionary troops occupied the region and annexed after the peace of Campo Formio (1797 ). From 1798 to 1814 the village belonged to the French department of Thunder Mountain and was assigned to the Canton Neuhornbach.
