Bottenwil (Swiss German ˌ ː bɔt əʋi ː u) is a municipality in the district of Zofingen in the canton of Aargau. It is located in the upper Uerkental and borders the Canton of Lucerne.

Geography

The village is located in the narrow valley of the Uerke wherein the flat valley floor is nowhere wider than 250 meters. Bottenwil consists ( from north to south ) from the three districts angle, harrows and Vorstatt, but these are grown together. History

The Alemanni settled the upper Uerkental in the 7th or 8th century. In 1189, Pope Clement III. the monastery of Muri in possession Botanwile; this is the first recorded mention of the village.
