Filling, refilling or filling is also the introduction of substances in cavities or vessels.
Definitions
The process is precisely named:
When filling is referred to the substance, material or product that is as useful capacity inside a container or envelope. For filled cavities or filling the walls and thermal insulation is used in balloons and airships as a lifting body.
Is the content of the ambient air, it is called generally not filling, but designates the container as empty when not filled. There are the following exceptions:
- Contents under pressure ( for example in a pressure tank)
- A non-evacuated vacuum vessel ( vacuum chamber, the vacuum system, the vacuum tube ) is referred to as a vented or purged.

- Filling of hydraulic brakes with brake fluid
- Charging of refrigeration equipment with refrigerant
- Sand in fuses, oil in large transformers, circuit breakers or capacitors
- Casting with casting resin, lead, etc.
- Filling holes with tooth dentures materials, see restorative treatment (dentistry)
