Boudhanath

Boudhanath (also Boudha, Boudnath, Nepali: बौद्धनाथ Bauddhanath ) is a suburb in the north- east of Kathmandu in Nepal.

Boudhanath is known because of the great stupa, which is for centuries one of the main goals of Buddhist pilgrims from Nepal and the surrounding regions of the Himalayas. The foundation dates back to the Licchavi in the 5th century AD With a height of 36 meters, the stupa is one of the largest of its kind

Buddhists find an especially at dawn and dusk at the building in order to circle clockwise ( Kora ) it. In full moon nights (see Vesakh hard ) thousands of butter lamps are on the terraces which surround the Stupa in plan a mandala inflamed. A once a year, the hemispherical building is newly whitened and New Year Losar the saffron sheets are renewed.
