Boulonnais horse

Boulonnais is based in the French region of Nord -Pas -de- Calais heavy horse breed with distinct oriental influence.

Exterior

There are 2 different types, which developed in the 17th century. A slightly smaller type, in Boulogne -sur- Mer - supplying fish markets, and the heavy work type for agriculture - hence the name of the breed of horses.

The Boulonnais have muscular legs with short, thick tube legs, silky coat and a noble head with oriental character. The Height ranges from 150 to 170 cm. In this race, there are mainly mold.

Breeding history

Boulonnaispferde were used in the northwest of France since the 14th century as a war horse. The Boulonnais have influences of three different horse breeds: Once by the Spanish horse, the Boulonnais inherited health, enthusiasm and the physique. The Arabs improved the gaits and transferred his nobility and his intelligence.
