Bourg-en-Bresse
Bourg -en- Bresse ( [ ˌ buʀkɑbʀɛs ] ) is a town with 39 882 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in eastern France. It is located in the Rhône-Alpes region and is the capital of the department of Ain and the seat of the municipal association Agglomà de Bourg -en- Bresse. Geography
Bourg -en- Bresse is located on the western edge of the French Jura, on the left bank of Reyssouze, a tributary of the Saône. Lyon is located about 70 kilometers southwest and Lons -le- Saunier 50 kilometers north, 30 km west of Macon and Geneva, 120 km east of the city.

History
Besides Roman excavations little of the early history of the town is known. The city got right Bourg -en- Bresse in 1250; Beginning of the 15th century, the city was taken by the Dukes of Savoy, the capital of the province of Bresse. 1535 fell Bourg -en -Bresse in France, but was reconquered by Duke Emmanuel Philibert. This could fix the city, so she resisted a six-month siege by the troops of Henry IV. 1601 Bourg -en -Bresse but was ceded permanently to France.
