Bousse (Moselle)

Bousse ( German Buß, Lorraine Buuss ) is a commune with 2981 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the Mosel Bousse, ten kilometers south of Thionville. To the municipality since 1791 the village Blettange heard ( Blettingen ).

History

The town was first mentioned in 1224, he was in the Middle Ages or the German, but since then on the French side of the former German - French language border. The place name derives from the German word repentance and goes back to a monastery, which was at that time here. Since 1659 Bousse belongs to France.

Since 1879 there is a bridge across the Moselle at Bousse. It was destroyed twice during the war (1940 and 1944 ), and rebuilt respectively.
