Boutersem is a Belgian municipality located in the Flemish region with 7792 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012). It consists of the various districts Boutersem, Kerkom, Neervelp, Roosbeek, Vertrijk and Willebringen.

Lions is located 10 kilometers north-west, Brussels about 32 km to the west, Antwerp 50 km north -west and 56 km south-east of Liege.

The municipality has a motorway on the A3 / E 40 and a regional train station on the Belgian railway line 36 ( Brussels - Leuven - Landen - Liege ); others are located in Leuven and Tienen. The Brussels National Airport near the capital, is the nearest international airport.
