Bowen ratio

The commonly used in meteorology Bowen ratio ( Bowen ratio also, according to Ira Sprague Bowen ) is the ratio of sensible heat to latent heat L F:

In urban areas, it may take the value 2:1, since there is often a lack of water due to the high proportion of impervious surfaces. A large part of the energy is thus converted into sensible heat.

In rural areas, where there is usually no shortage of verdunstungsfähigem water, the Bowen ratio is approximately 1:2.
