Boyabat is a town and a district in the Turkish province of Sinop in northern Anatolia. The town has about 26,000 inhabitants and is an economic center for the surrounding villages.

Boyabat lies on the western edge of the Gökırmak Valley at Gazi Deresi, a small river, which joins a few miles further east in the Gökırmak. The main road through the town to the east leads to Samsun on the Black Sea and in the west over Taşköprü to Kastamonu. This connection should have been a part of the Silk Road.

A well-preserved in its external walls castle dominates the north-west out of town on a steep rock face a narrow aperture of the Gazi Deresi. City center and bus station are close to the river.
