Boyd Hamilton Dowler ( born October 18, 1937 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, United States) is an American former American football player. He played in the National Football League ( NFL), among others, as a wide receiver.

Playing career

Boyd Dowler studied at the University of Colorado at Boulder and played in the local football team. Dowler came mainly in the offense of the team as a wide receiver for use. From 1956 to 1958 he was honored by his college for his sporting achievements. In 1959, Dowler was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the third round to 25th place. In the same year Vince Lombardi took over as coach for the Packers. Lombardi succeeded from the team in which many future members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame as the quarterback Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, the running back or defensive back Willie Wood played to form one of the best teams in the NFL. Dowler was used by Lombardi as a wide receiver, ran but also as a punter for his team. 1961 Dowler was with the team from Green Bay its first NFL title win .. Dowler played twice in the Pro Bowl, the final game of the best players of the season. He was elected twice to the All- Pro and 1959 NFL Rookie of the Year. He is a member of the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, in the Wyoming Sports Hall of Fame and in the NFL 1960s All- Decade Team.
