Božakovo

Božakovo ( German Sankt Magdalen ) is a place in the Slovenian region of Carniola and is above the border river Kolpa who has deeply notched at this point, the Maddalena wall. The village belongs to the municipality of Metlika.

Geography

From Božakovo there is a panoramic view of Bubnjarci and there on either side opposite to the Kolpa two mills at the railroad crossing after Rosalnice.

East of the village go to the caves and Zdenec Vidovec. The stream of the village seeps at the marginal zone of the white Krainer karst in the underworld. Following the highly visible dry ravine to get to the cave Vidovec, which is the longest of any White Krainer caves with about 270 m. Here comes again the village stream to the surface and flows from the Kupa River. The approximately 78 m long spring cave Zdenc below the town was walled off by locals with stones in order to use it as a drinking source and livestock watering. In the back of the cave, separated by an artificial wall, the water collects and is passed to the input tubes.

Attractions

Among the attractions of the place include the Church of St. Magdalene, which already in 1334 was recorded mention. Another attraction is the Chapel of Mary Help of Christians on the outskirts - coming from Rosalnice - located.

Special

A special feature is the neighboring vineyard cottages, where meet the winegrowers village at night to homemade wine to drink with the motto "on the other half ." Anyone can participate, which brings as a member contribution just before the " Martin's " 10 liters of must. This is then sold from the village of winegrowers in the village visitors.
