Monastery Kızlar ( Novodevichy Convent, also Panagia Theokephastros ) in Trabzon, Turkey, is a former Greek Orthodox monastery from the Byzantine period.

Location

The monastery is situated on the northern slopes of the Boztepe, a 244 m high hill a few kilometers south of Trabzon with views of the city near the monasteries Vazelon and Sumela, also on the river Altindere ( Pyxites ).

History

The monastery was built during the reign of Alexios III.
