While the party had influenced in the period immediately before and during the dissolution of the Soviet Union the events in Belarus significantly, they rapidly lost after the Belarusian independence achievement attractive and important. After the electoral victory of pro-Russian presidential candidate Alyaksandr Lukashenka 1994, the party became even more on the defensive. In 1999, a number of members broke away and founded the Kanserwatyuna - Chryszijanskaja Partyja - BNF ( German Conservative Christian Party - BNF ).
