Braamfontein ( German as " Brombeerquelle " ) is a central district of the South African city of Johannesburg. In 2001 he had 7007 inhabitants. The district is located northwest of the city center between Jan Smuts Avenue and Empire Road. The Nelson Mandela Bridge connects Braamfontein to the district of Newtown, with which it forms a cultural center.
