The Bracco Italiano is one of the FCI (No. 202, Gr. 7, sec 1.1) recognized Italian dog breed.

Origin and History

The first pictures of the race date from the 14th century. The Bracco was long (often together with falconers ) are used for bird hunting.

This ancient breed was decimated after the Second World War, that they would be almost extinct. It is a rare breed that is not well known beyond Italy.

Description

Large hunting dog, to 67 cm, 40 kg weight with short, dense and glossy coats in different colors and patterns: white; White with differently sized, orange or amber or chestnut- brown spots; speckled, and white - pale orange ( melato ). Preferred is a symmetrical mask is tolerated but also the absence of a mask. The dogs of this breed have long floppy ears.
