Braches

Braches ( Picard: fallow) is a northern French village with 218 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier, is part of the Communauté de communes Avre Luce Moreuil, in the canton Moreuil.

Geography

Braches located on the left (western) bank of the Avre, in the here the stream flows braches, which extends over less than 5 km substantially parallel to Avre in the valley, 5 km south-southeast of Moreuil. Braches is connected by a bridge to La Neuville- Sire -Bernard on the opposite river bank. The river valley is partially swamped.

History

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.

  • Remains of the castle of File camps towards Grivesnes, mostly canceled after bomb damage in 1918.
