Geographical Location

Brachttal located in the southern Vogelsberg.

Neighboring communities

Brachttal bordered to the north by the municipalities Kefenrod ( Wetterau ) and Birstein, on the east by the town of Bad Soden- Salmuenster and in the south and west by the city of Waechtersbach.

Community structure

Administrative headquarters of the district is Schlierbach. The community Brachttal consists of the following villages:

History

The community Brachttal was on 1 July 1970 by the merger of independent communities Schlierbach, Light Stone and New Schmidten. The naming was advertised here as part of a student competition. Brachttal is derived from the name of the river Bracht, which flows through the districts of New Schmidten and Schlierbach. On February 1, 1971 Spielberg and armed mountain were added; Armed mountain is mentioned in documents since 1573. Later, on 1 July 1974 still Udenhain was incorporated into the municipality Brachttal.

Culture

In Bracht Taler the Spielberg to the system operated by the Museum and Historical Society Brachttal Brachttal Museum is located. In addition to an extensive collection of Waechtersbach here for special exhibitions with varying themes. On the top floor of the museum is a replica of the model railway range of Vogelsberger Southern Railway. The museum also has display cases where the objects from excavations of the Spielberger castle are shown.

In Bracht Taler district armed mountain, the privately operated Lindenhof Museum is also located in which an extensive collection of objects of Wächtersbacher Steingutfabrik different epochs ( historicism, Art Nouveau, Art Deco ) is located.

Sports

The sports club SV Brachttal is composed of the departments football, running club and women's gymnastics (including children's gymnastics). In the Spielberg of the BSC ( The Ball Game Club ) 1922 Spielberg is at home. This association operates primarily football, since 1995, women's football.

In the district of Udenhain plays the football club FC forward Udenhain.

The JSV New Schmidten is the most successful sports club in Brachttal and multiple German champion in unicycling.
