The Schwarzhörnige spot Bock ( Brachyta interrogationis, synonym Evodinus interrogationis ) is a longhorn beetle in the northern Palaearctic.

Description

The 9 to 18 mm long beetle is quite stocky for a longhorn beetle. He is black and has the elytra a variable yellow- black markings. Mostly, the wing-coverts are yellow with an approximately L-shaped longitudinal black spot, but occur locally heaped variations with almost black to almost entirely yellow in color.

Occurrence

The species occurs with large distribution gaps from France to Siberia and Japan. In Europe it is boreomontan and inhabited except the higher mountains Scandinavia and northern Russia. You lack in Southern Europe. German localities lie in the Alps, in the Fichtelgebirge, Franconian Forest, the Ore Mountains and Vogtland. In Austria and Switzerland it is widespread, but absent in the East Alps.

Way of life

The larva develops in one to two years to plants such as wood cranesbill, peonies or fireweed. The diurnal beetle flies from June to August on mountain meadows and visited flowers.
