The Brackwede train station is the main train station in Bielefeld Hauptbahnhof Bielefeld. It was opened with the opening of the Cologne - Minden railway in 1847.

Station environment

The brackish Neither station has six tracks. The track 5/6 was completely refurbished at the Expo 2000 and the reactivation of the Haller Willem to Osnabrück, the platform height was adjusted to 76 cm and set up a weather protection. The remaining tracks have a platform height of 38 cm.

The tracks are accessible via a pedestrian tunnel that goes from the railway road under the railway tracks and the Ostwestfalendamm to the natural pool Brackwede on the border of the district source. The tunnel is for pedestrians and cyclists main bonding Brackwede - center to the district of source and re-opened in 2009 and has a natural pool barrier-free access on both sides. However, the tracks are accessible from the tunnel only via stairs and therefore not accessible for disabled people. The rear part of the tunnel that passes under the Ostwestfalendamm was embellished by young people with a continuous Graffiti showing the "Skyline " Brackwede.

At the station there are park and ride parking. In addition, covered bike racks, as well as lockable bike boxes are available. The ticket machine was broken ticket machines against the new touch-screen machines in the exchange of the old DB and not replaced by a new one, that keep on Brackwerder station with few exceptions, only trains, in which a machine exists. Recently, the six offered at the kiosk in the station building mass transit maps of the composite rate.

Nearer to home are located, next to the Ostwestfalendamm and the natural pool, a mosque of the Turkish -Azerbaijani Cultural Association eV, a junkyard, a Turkish / Russian supermarket, Luttertal with the Lutterkolk and Lutter sources as well as the company Gestamp GMF Forming ( ehem. Connection to public transport

The station is accessible by light rail and buses. The bus stops only 300 meters away, accessible by a staircase ( not accessible). It has long been planned, bus lines pass far end on Brackwerder city ring to the station and bring you as the terminus of the railway station district, so this upgrade and improve connections between train and bus. After relocation of the line 94 Brackwerder Church concerning, however, only two lines, and especially not a pure city line. In the 1970s, city buses from the station operated on a half- circle line to Suedring to Brackwede Church ( infrastructure similar to district line 123). This would be given today also provides a connection of the IKEA house to the train station.

Bielefeld International Bus Station

On 30 March 2009 the previous three stops for international long-distance bus in Bielefeld (Hauptbahnhof, senna city Ratio- market and Kesselbrink ) were pooled centrally on Brackwerder station. Offered are mainly connections to Poland and Eastern Europe (including the Baltic states ), but also to Western and Southern European countries (France, Portugal, England, Belgium). The domestic long-distance buses in Magdeburg and Berlin ( Berlin Linien Bus GmbH ) go further from the main station. For the relocation of the bus station in the central part of Brackwerder station building, it has been renovated from the inside round and equipped with a waiting room for travelers as well as toilets. Also located in the station building next to a travel agency and a newspaper stand.

Modernization

Up on the platform 5/6 and the central part of the station building, the brackish Neither station is in a very dilapidated condition. The pedestrian tunnel resembles a stalactite cave, the other platforms have only a height of 38 cm and there are no scoreboards for the trains still a barrier-free access to the platforms. In the course of the Expo project Haller Willem all stations were modernized along the route to Osnabrück. Only the brackish Neither station has not been fully rehabilitated. It is not intended in the station modernization drive 2 ( MOF2 ). The cost of a renovation are estimated by the competent DB Station & Service AG to approximately 4-5 million euros. With the funds from the stimulus package 2 dynamic font monitors were installed for passenger information by DB Station & Service AG, however.
