Brad Ellsworth

John Bradley " Brad" Ellsworth ( born September 11, 1958 in Jasper, Indiana) is an American politician. Between 2007 and 2011 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

After high school, Brad Ellsworth to 1981 studied sociology at Indiana State University at Evansville. Later he studied at the same university nor the Criminology. Ellsworth initially embarked on a career in the police service. First, he was simple policeman. Later he was appointed as sheriff sheriff in Vanderburgh County. This post he held between 1999 and 2007.

Politically, Ellsworth joined the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 2006 he was in the eighth electoral district of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of him previously defeated Republican John Hostettler on January 3, 2007. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 2011, two legislative sessions. There he was a member of the Agriculture Committee, the Armed Services Committee and the Committee on Small Business, and in a total of six subcommittees. He is regarded as very conservative and was among other things against abortion facilities, and laws restricting private ownership of arms.

In 2010 Ellsworth renounced in favor of candidacy for the U.S. Senate on a possible re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives. With 40:55 percent of the vote, he clearly lost to Republican Dan Coats. He then became president of a utility headquartered in Evansville.
