Brad Norton

Bradley Joseph Norton ( born February 13, 1975 in Cambridge, Massachusetts ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who played in his playing days between 1998 and 2008, among others, for the Florida Panthers, Los Angeles Kings and Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League. His brother Jeff Norton was also a professional hockey player.

Career

Norton was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 by the Edmonton Oilers in the ninth round at position 215, when he played for the Cushing Academy. In the summer of 1994 he went to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, who participated with her team at the University of league operation of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

At the end of the 1997/98 season, after he had completed his training, he joined the International Hockey League for the Detroit Vipers, where he received his first professional contract. The Vipers attracted to the finals of the Turner Cup, but were unable to defend their title won last year. At the start of season 1998/99 he was in the farm team of the Edmonton Oilers, the Hamilton Bulldogs, included in the American Hockey League and played there for three years. However, he never came to the Oilers in the NHL used. Prior to the 2001/02 season the Florida Panthers took him under contract and he completed his first year in this game 22 games in the NHL, but the majority of the season he spent in the AHL with the Hershey Bears. When his contract was not renewed, he received a sample contract with the Los Angeles Kings. Norton then played 53 NHL games in the season 2002/ 03. In the following season, he completed a few games for Los Angeles, which, however, did not want to keep him. The Washington Capitals finally took him in March 2004 in their team.

While the NHL season 2004/ 05 failed because of the lockout, paused Norton. In the fall of 2005 he was invited to the training camp of the Los Angeles Kings, but could not be recommended for a contract. He then moved to Europe and ran for Jokerit Helsinki in the Finnish SM- liiga. In December 2005 he left Finland again, however, and got a contract in the AHL with the Binghamton Senators, the farm team of the Ottawa Senators. Besides numerous applications in Binghamton, he also denied seven games for Ottawa in the NHL. After the season, he was again without a contract, but the Detroit Red Wings secured the services of free agents. Norton began the 2006/07 season in the NHL team the Red Wings, but then injured his shoulder and was subsequently updated in the squad of the Farm Team Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL. For the season 2007/ 08 he took the San Jose Sharks for a year under contract. Due to a lengthy back injury of Americans stayed the entire season on the injured list and was not a single use. His contract was subsequently not renewed.

Norton is considered Enforcer and leaves like fists fly in games. As a two -way player who can be used both in the attack on the wing and in defense, although he has completed 263 games in the AHL until the summer of 2007, but collected only 63 points, 618 penalty minutes, however, are a top value.
