Brad Whitford

Brad Ernest Whitford ( born February 23, 1952 in Winchester, Massachusetts) is an American musician. He gained as a rhythm guitarist of the rock band Aerosmith fame.

Career

Whitford played in the 1960s in a largely unknown bands like Teapot Dome, Earth Incorporated, Cymbals of Resistance and Justin Tyme. Later, the musical influences from Led Zeppelin and Humble Pie shaped his game towards blues-rock. He attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 1971 he joined the rock band Aerosmith and replaced former second guitarist Raymond Tabano. After commercially successful albums as Toys in the Attic and Rocks drug problems led to tensions in the band, and lead guitarist Joe Perry and Whitford left Aerosmith end of the 1970s. Whitford founded with former guitarist Ted Nugent, Derek St. Holmes, the project Whitford / St. Holmes. Their self-titled album from 1981, however, was a commercial flop.

1984 returned Whitford and Perry returned to Aerosmith, where they play up to the present.

2001 Whitford was accepted as a member of Aerosmith into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Private

Whitford has three sons from his second marriage with Karen Lesser. Since 2006, he is married to Kimberly Whitford, with whom he has a common child.
