Geography

Bradenton is located on the mouth area of ​​the Manatee River into the Gulf of Mexico. The city is bordered to the north by Palmetto and lies about 60 km south of Tampa.

History

The first mention of it was landing Hernando de Soto 's 1539. The city was named after its first settler, Joseph Braden, a sugar planter, who in 1854 built a castle-like home here. The present city was founded in 1943 formed when the African legislation florida united the cities of Manatee and Brad Town.

The average size of a household was 2.23 persons and the average family size is 2.92 people.

23.8 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 23.2% were 20-39 years old, 24.2% were 40-59 years old and 29.0% were at least 60 years old. The median age was 43 years. 46.6 % of the population were male and 53.4 % female.

The average annual income was $ 41,409, while 17.1 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 87.50 % of the population spoke Spanish 10.36 % and 2.14 % had a different mother tongue.

Culture and sights

The district " Village of the Arts " is an artists' quarter, renovated in the classic houses and used as galleries, studios and restaurant.
