Braderup

Braderup (Danish Brårup ) is a municipality in the district of North Friesland Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography and transport

The community is located about eight kilometers south of the Danish border on the main road 5, the Green coast road and on the border between Geest and Marsh. The nearest train station is in Uphusum.

Policy

In the local elections on May 26, 2013, the voters Community ABW received 42.3 percent of the vote and four seats. The voters Community AWGB came to 30.0 per cent and three seats. On the SSW accounted for 17.2 percent and 10.5 percent of the SPD. The latter were each given a seat, voter turnout was 69.0 percent.

Attractions

In the list of cultural monuments in Braderup are registered in the list of monuments of Schleswig- Holstein cultural monuments.

Shaping the townscape is the built in 1240 early Gothic brick church. The choir was probably in the 15th century a new vault. The construction is reminiscent in its form rather than to Danish German churches. It has clean lines that glow bright white walls. The roofs of the nave and the lateral roof of the square tower are covered with red tiles. The oldest piece of church is a font from Gotland limestone. The altar and the pulpit sounding board of the earlier created in the 17th century, an artist from Tonder, who also worked for the communities of the area, in the baroque style. The paintings from the 16th century, a representation of the Last Judgement, these renovated in the 1950s Lothar Malskat and Diedrich Fey is just hard to see.

Economy

The place was formerly dominated mainly by agriculture, today 89 % of the municipal area is used for agriculture and forestry. However, more and more businesses from trade and construction industry emerged. In addition, the site became the residential area for many commuters who work in Niebüll, leak, Westerland and Suderlugum.

South of the village is located west of the main road 5, the wind farm Braderup with several wind turbines, which were again increased significantly in 2006. East of the village is the run by a local ( founded by individuals) companies biogas plant.

In June 2007, a Village Improvement Society was founded, which aims to improve the appearance of the village. It was also started with the creation of a village chronicle.
