Bradykinin receptor

The bradykinin is one of the membrane receptors.

All eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells containing such receptors in order to exchange information with the environment. As signals of these receptors chemical substances, light, mechanical forces, temperature variations or electrochemical impulses can serve. The biological responses to these signals are vital processes such as cell movement, cell division, cell metabolism, differentiation and morphogenesis.

The bradykinin receptor is a G -protein coupled receptor (GPCR), which is activated by the binding of a ligand. GPCR is an important family of transmembrane receptors.

Types of bradykinin

There are B1 and B2 bradykinin receptors; Both receptors are GPCRs. The B2 bradykinin receptor is ubiquitously expressed, the B1- type but only after injury. He is up-regulated by pro-inflammatory cytokines.
