Brahmananda Saraswati

Brahmananda Saraswati (* 1870 in the village of Gana in Ayodhya, † 1953) was a Hindu guru.

Life

He was (now Uttar Pradesh ) was born in a Brahmin family in northern India. The age of nine he left home in order to devote himself entirely to his spiritual path in seclusion. Around the age of 14 he found in Uttarkashi in the Himalayas his master, Dandi Swami Saraswati Krishnanand. He later moved to the instructions of his master in a cave back and decided that you will not have to leave until he had attained enlightenment. In 1902 he was admitted to the Kumbh Mela of his master in the Order of the sannyasin.

1941 - after decades of quiet solitude - took Swami Brahmananda Saraswati, the invitation, the first Shankaracharya ( spiritual leader ) of Jyotir Math to be, after a vacancy of 150 years. He held this seat until his departure in 1953. Adi Shankara ( approximately 788-820 ), the great innovator of the Vedic tradition of Sanatana Dharma, had four major student, Padma - Pada, Hasta - Malaka, Vartika - Kara and Trotaka, each of which founded a monastery in the north, south, east and west of India. Jyotirmath is the northern monastery. Swami Brahmananda Saraswati was guru of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who have devoted student and later his personal assistant was shortly before he took office. In the environment, founded by Maharishi Transcendental Meditation Brahmananda Saraswati respectful " Guru Dev" is called.
