Bram Cohen

Bram Cohen ( born 1975 ) is an American programmer and the creator of the BitTorrent protocol and the reference implementation in the original BitTorrent ( BitTorrent mainline ).

Until the spring of 2001, he worked for the unsuccessful companies Autonomous Zone, which manufactured the software MojoNation and 2001 was for sale. He then introduced to match the DEF CON in the summer of the first stable version of the reference implementation of the BitTorrent protocol ready to introduce the technology there.

Together with his former flatmate partner Len Sassaman, he founded the CodeCon, an affordable alternative to large hacker conferences such as DEF CON.

Bram Cohen currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife Jenna and his children.
