Brandhorst is a district of the town Oranienbaum -Wörlitz in Wittenberg district in Saxony- Anhalt.

Geography

Until the dissolution of the community by the WB GemNeuglG she was both by area and by population is the smallest municipality in Saxony-Anhalt. The district lies to the south of the Elbe- shore, in the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve. A few kilometers away is the Woerlitzer park amid the Dessau- Wörlitz empire that. History

1708 gives the Princess Henriette Catherine of Nassau-Orange miller Herrmann a building site for the construction of Kakauer mill. 1747 the village was first mentioned. The town was on an old Mark, who bore the name Brandhorst. Foundation of the town by Prince Leopold I by drainage measures in the area from 1706 to 1709.

On 1 July 2007, the municipality Brandhorst was incorporated in the district of Wittenberg as a result of the district reform of the former district of Anhalt -Zerbst.

Transport links

The street village Brandhorst extends from the L 133 ( according to Dessau on Vockerode, former Federal Highway 107 ) to the L 131 (from Oranienbaum to Wittenberg). The motorway connection, the A 9 Dessau -Ost is about 9 km away.

The nearest train stations are located in Dessau and in Radis ( line Wittenberg and Bitterfeld ). The Orange Tree Station of Dessau- Woerlitzer railway is operated only in the summer season.
