Brandon Gormley

Brandon Gormley (born 18 February 1992 in Murray River, Prince Edward Iceland ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since October 2010 the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League under contract and will be used by them since 2012 with the Portland Pirates.

Career

Gormley was selected when QMJHL Midget Draft 2008 eighth of the Moncton Wildcats, after he stood before two years with the Notre Dame Hounds under contract. In his first season with the Wildcats in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League the defenders get 27 points. In the 2009/10 season he won with the Wildcats, the Coupe du Président and thus reach the Memorial Cup. Gormley scored 43 points scorer in 58 games and was third on points best defender of the QMJHL, after which he was awarded the Mike Bossy Trophy and appointed to the Second All- Star team of the QMJHL. NHL Entry Draft 2010 he was selected in 13 out of the Phoenix Coyotes. In the 2010/11 season he played not only in the QMJHL, but also completed four games with San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League.

In January 2012, the Moncton Wildcats him transferred within the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in exchange for Michael Matheson and six draft rights to the Shawinigan Cataractes.

Since autumn 2012, Gormley plays for the Portland Pirates in the American Hockey League.

Internationally

Gormley 2008 and 2009 took for the team Atlantic Canada participated in the World U -17 Hockey Challenge, where he was elected to the All- Star team in 2009. When Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in 2009 he won the gold medal with the Canadian selection.
