Brandon (Manitoba)

Brandon is a city in southwestern Manitoba, Canada. It is located right on the banks of winding Assiniboine River in Manitoba. Brandon, the second largest city of Manitoba, was founded by General Thomas Rosser, who saw it in 1881 as a hub of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Even today, agriculture and the processing of their products in this fertile region is predominantly why Brandon was given the nickname "Wheat City". In Brandon Brandon Wheat Kings are at home, playing in the Western Hockey League.

Under German Bundeswehr soldiers, the city is known that there is about 30 km from the Canadian Forces Base Shilo Canadian Military Base (CFB Shilo ). Here trained by 2001 German soldiers in the so-called GATES ( German Army Training Establishment Shilo ).

Location

Brandon is located approximately 200 km west of Winnipeg, capital of Manitoba. Approx. 51 643 inhabitants of the city, which is located near the Trans-Canada Highway.
