History

On 21 October In 1912 the 26 -year-old baker and confectioner Carl Brandt ( 1886-1965 ) and his brother Fritz Brandt ( 1893-1957 ) Märkische rusks and biscuits factory C. & F. Brandt GmbH in hasp, now part von Hagen. His goal was to bring biscuits and biscuit in a consistently high quality, best price on the market.

1929 Rusk production was mechanized, the first self-developed and patented biscuit cutting machine came in the company Brandt used. Eight years later, 25 years after its founding, the company had 700 employees.

In 1940, Brandt acquired the company " Zugspitze " biscuit and chocolate factory AG in Landshut. 1956 the company founder Carl Brandt was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class, for his services to the German food industry. When Carl Brandt died in 1965, took over his 20 years younger wife, Betty Brandt, the management.

In 1975, Brandt majority stake in Rusk Pauly GmbH & Co. KG in Friedrichsdorf and Wenkbach, in the municipality of Weimar ( Lahn). After the death of Betty Brandt in 1984 was Carl -Jürgen Brandt, the adopted son of the founder, sole shareholder of the company. In 1996 a co-operation with the Finnish crispbread manufacturer Vaasamills Ltd. .. 1997 presents the Brandt group of companies with 1,800 employees and an annual turnover of 260 million marks ( 131 million euros ). Since May 2001, the Burger Knäcke GmbH Co. KG is part of the Brandt group.

Since summer 2007, there is only a single logo for the whole Brandt group. It shows an orange rectangle from which the " Brandt- child " center rises to the top. Relocation of production to Thuringia

In 2002, the 90-year anniversary, Brandt inaugurated its new biscuit factory in Ohrdruf, Thuringia, a. The last biscuit in Hagen ran on 5 December 2003 by the band.

The total production from the headquarter in Hagen was moved to Ohrdruf, only the administration remained in Hagen, but moved in 2006 to the Kölner Straße. Of the 500 employees covered only with four to Ohrdruf.
