Branislav Ratkovica

Branislav Ratkovica (born 27 July 1985 in Gradačac, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina) is a Serbian professional basketball player. The point guard most of his career in the German Basketball Bundesliga, where he played with the WALTER Tigers Tübingen, EWE Baskets Oldenburg and the Artland Dragons verbacht. Since the end of October 2013 he plays in Tübingen, where he has signed a contract until the end of the 2014/15 season.

Career

In his youth Ratkovica played in Belgrade clubs and joined with 22 years in the German Basketball Bundesliga. After four seasons in the German top flight he played until February 2013 in the Türkiye Ligi Basketbol.

Ratkovicas family fled before the American Civil War in Yugoslavia in Belgrade and the first football-mad Branislav came there with the basketball in contact. As a Serb- Montenegrin youth international Ratkovica participated in the 2004 and 2005 twice at Junior European Championships and won in Moscow in 2005 together with players like Luka Bogdanovic under coach Luka Pavićević the bronze medal.

After playing in several clubs in Belgrade, he was he brought by his former youth coach Predrag Krunić, who now worked as head coach of the EWE Baskets Oldenburg, in the German BBL 2007. The EWE Baskets to Ratkovica could not prevail, whereupon he moved to league rivals WALTER Tigers Tübingen for the following season 2008 /09. With Igor Perovic as an assistant coach under the Turkish head coach Tolga Öngören worked there also a Serbian countryman of Ratkovica. In Tübingen Ratkovica had much more possession than in Oldenburg. While he was able to increase his personal statistics in Tübingen season for playing time and the Tigers, who were coached by head coach promoted Perovic since 2009, undergone a development from the fight to avoid relegation back to the battle for the play-off places, it was enough for the team ever to participate in the play-offs for the German championship. In the BBL season 2010/11 he was over seven assists per game best assist provider of BBL.

Then he got a lucrative offer from Turkey and playing in the 2011/12 season on the west coast of Turkey for Aliağa Petkim in the TBL. After a few games in the season 2012/13 he moved to league rivals Olin Edirne.

There his contract was terminated after a few months. Ratkovica then moved back to Germany and joined the end of the regular season 2012/13 the Artland Dragons from Quakenbruck to. With these he reached the play-offs, but retired in the first round against Ratiopharm Ulm. Then moved Ratkovica to Ukraine to BC Politekhnika - Halychyna. Only shortly after start of the season, his contract was dissolved there again and the Serb moved back to his old stamping ground to Tübingen. There he signed a two -year contract.
