Branko Marinkovic

Branko Marinkovic Jovicevic ( born August 21, 1967 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia ) is a Bolivian politician.

Life

Its coming from the former Yugoslavia parents - his father was from Brač in Croatia and the mother from Montenegro - 1954 emigrated to Bolivia from. He is married to Nicole de Marinkovic, with whom he has three sons. He studied engineering and economics in the United States at the University of Texas. Since 2000 he is director of the edible oil industries and since 2004 President of the Association of private entrepreneurs and vice president of business banking. From 2007-2009 he was president of the Civic Committee of Santa Cruz (Comité Civico de Santa Cruz ). He is the leader figure of the Youth Union of Santa Cruz, a militant right-wing bat group that exists as a quasi- independent arm of the Citizens' Committee. He is regarded as the most influential and the most dangerous opponent of the government of President Evo Morales and met with the prefect Rubén Costas one for the department of Santa Cruz autonomy.

Marinkovic is spokesman for the Foundation Freedom and Democracy ( Fundación Libertad y Democracia ( FULIDE ) ), which belongs to the established by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation Liberal Network Latin America ( Red Liberal de América Latina ( RELIAL ) ).

Marinkovic has the Bolivian and Croatian citizenship and is one of the richest men in Bolivia. His business empire from large landowners, cattle, edible oil production, bank holdings and other divisions, branches to a large extent in Bolivia and to a lesser extent in Croatia.

Marinkovic indicates that his father Silvio Marinkovic have fought in World War II as a partisan with Tito against the Germans. In December 2009, authorities seized a 12,500 acre ranch of the politician with the accusation that they have acquired the property by fraud.

Presented in June 2010, a Bolivian court warrant against Marinkovic, since he had not appeared for questioning in connection with terrorist investigations.
