Brantford Smoke

The Brantford Smoke were a Canadian ice hockey team from Brantford, Ontario. The team played from 1991 to 1998 in the Colonial Hockey League.

History

The team was founded in 1991 as a franchise of the inaugural Colonial Hockey League. Their most successful season completed the Brantford Smoke in the 1992/93 season when they won the Colonial Cup first the Tarry Cup as the best team in the regular season and in the playoffs as champions of Cohl. In the playoffs to Brantford against the Flint Bulldogs, Thunder Bay Thunder Hawks and St. Thomas Wildcats had prevailed. In the following years, however, the Canadians came out no longer on the second playoff round.

Following the 1997/98 season the franchise to Asheville, North Carolina, was relocated, where it then under the name of Asheville Smoke took part in the match operation of the UHL, as the league was started in 1997.
