Bras-Panon

Bras- Panon is a municipality with 11,838 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) in the French overseas department of Réunion. It belongs administratively to the arrondissement of Saint- Benoît and forms the canton of Bras- Panon. She is also a member of the Association of Municipalities Réunion Est.

Geography

The 88.55 km ² large municipality of Bras- Panon comprises an approximately 2.5 kilometer section of the Indian Ocean coast in the northeast of the island of Réunion and the mountainous, rising to 2092 m above sea level to Mazerin hinterland. Naming

1736 Bertrand François Mahé de commissioned La Bourdonnais, governor of the Ile de Bourbon (old name for La Réunion), the prestigious French settler family Panon with the surveying of the area between the two flow regions Rivière du Mât and Rivière des Roches.
