History

The company is one of three fixed network, a remote and eight mobile phone companies in Brazil that emerged from the collapse of the Telekommunikationsonmonopol Telebras.

The Company's shares are traded on the Brazilian stock exchange Bovespa, as well as on the New York Stock Exchange.

In 2009, 79% of Brasil Telecom were sold for 4.8 billion U.S. dollars in the telecommunications company Oi. Since then, the Brasil Telecom is a subsidiary of the Group.
