Bratislava Hlavná stanica (short: Bratislava hl.st.; German literally: Bratislava Main Station, Hungarian: Pozsony főpályaudvar ) is the main railway station in the Slovak capital Bratislava.

History

The first station building was built during the construction of the first railway line from Vienna to Bratislava, the Marchegger Eastern Railway, which was opened on 20 August 1848. Shortly thereafter, on December 16, 1850, the railway line Bratislava -Budapest was Parkan (now Štúrovo ) and thus opened a second slightly larger building erected. On February 2, 1883 Today's railway line Bratislava - Žilina came towards Ratzersdorf (now Raca ) added.

With the founding of Czechoslovakia, the station received the first Slovak station name Bratislava, from the late 1920s, then Bratislava Hlavné nádražie (short: Bratislava hl.n. ).

In 1962, the new line was opened to the Bratislava - Nové Mesto station as part of the eastern bypass.

Since the early 1970s, the station name Bratislava Hlavná use today applies stanica.

The years of neglect of the concourses and the total under-dimensioning of the existing facilities were in the 1980s, the plan for the expansion of the station building arise. 1988, a third building was opened (popularly Skleník to German " glass house" ), since 2006, the station and the tracks are rebuilt and refurbished. Location

The station is located about 1.3 kilometers in a straight line north of the Old Town ( Stare Mesto ). At the station forecourt connecting flights to the buses and the trolley Bratislava, both of which are operated by the transport companies of the city of Bratislava, and the taxis. On foot it takes about 15 minutes to the old town.

The tram stop Bratislava is currently due to the poor condition of the tracks out of service.

Importance

Operation

The station is owned by the railway infrastructure of the ZSR. The passenger traffic is largely operated by ŽSSK.
