The station Bratislava - Petržalka (Slovak Železničná stanica Bratislava - Petržalka; formerly Station Engerau ) is the railway station of the same part of the city of Bratislava and the only station of the city, which lies on the right bank of the Danube.

Location

It is located at the junction of the branch line Parndorf Bratislava - Vienna - Raab train in the railway line Bratislava - Hegyeshalom. It was opened in 1897 and extensively modernized in 2001.

Construction

The station is invested in northeast-southwest direction through station and has since conversion over ten solid tracks. In addition to the main platform at the reception building on the northwest side, there is a central platform between the sixth and seventh track. The exit to the northeast leads since 1985 on the harbor bridge and then in a wide arc around the central city around the main station. Before that it passed directly over the single-track Old bridge to the old town. Trains to Vienna leave the station in a south-westerly direction. The travel times are the main station 20 minutes, depending on type of train to Vienna for about an hour.

The railway tracks are electrified with one hand, the Slovak 25-kV/50-Hz-Stromsystem and the other hand to the Austrian 15-kV/162/3 Hz system. Here, a change of locomotive is required for trains from Vienna for the onward journey to Bratislava main station. Since this would be too cumbersome for local trains that terminate regional trains from Austria at this station. Until the Schengen enlargement in 2007, he was also a border station in the direction of Austria with the necessary passport controls.

Until its closure in 1945, the Bratislava train from southwest led her into the station. About this tracks were served up last some industry connections.
