Braun's lipoprotein

The murein lipoprotein ( also: Braun lipoprotein ) comes in Gram-negative bacteria in large numbers as a membrane molecule before. It is tightly bound by covalent bonds to the murein layer, and anchored by its hydrophobic head in the outer membrane. In this way it connects the outer membrane to the murein layer, and also serves as a spacer to keep the periplasmic space open. In Gram- positive bacteria, it does not happen due to lack of outer membrane.
